MERCURY ONLY RUNNING AT 3/4 SPEED- ALARM

I recently purchased a used boat with a 115 hp 1998 Mercury engine (w/low hours). It runs well and fast to the fishin' spot but on the way back only 3/4 speed. It won't get up on plane. I replaced the plugs and added fuel cleaner but still the same. Also, after I purchased it I noticed a wire in the engine that was disconnected. After I connected it the alarm would scream as I started the engine, both cold and hot. I have plenty of oil and the spitter works. Should I be concerned :confused: and do you have any suggestions about 3/4 speed? Thanks, STACK

what color wire and what king of a alarm are you getting? A constant intermitent beeb or a constant beeb? If it runs good to the fishing hole, what have you done diiferent that it would only run 3/4 speed back to the marina.
