Hi, The dealer offered me $2500 for my 2000 40hp Mercury 3 cylinder in mint condition. It has power trim and is a remote steering model. Does this sound like a fair price on a trade in? Thanks for any info.

Re: Fair trade-in price??

Just looked at 2 brand new 2002 motors. Tiller model was $3379.
Remote model was $3779, but no controls included.

A used 2002 4 stroke was also $3779 no controls, it was kind of scratched up.

As far as 2 cyl vs 3 cyl, every dealer has told me something different, it depends on what they have in stock, as to which one they say is better.

The price your dealer offered isn't all that bad, IF it is applied to the regular selling price of the new motor, not off the list price. And is he including removal and install/rigging of the new motor.
