Hi, Does $3800 out the door sound right for a repower from a 2000 40HP Merc to a 2003 75HP Merc? The $3800 price includes allowance for my 40hp trade in, and all labor and sales taxes and a new prop. Does this sound fair? Thanks for any info.

SS.<br /><br />Not bad. There is a huge jump in price once you cross the 50 hp. mark.

Dealer just told me a rule of thumb last week; $100 per HP in the crate or $75 if hanging on a new rig. He was talking bigger HP but it's something to work with.

The Feb issue of trailer boats magazine lists the 2003 75hp, elec start, power trim, oil injected at $5555. Plus rigging, prop, and controls. (about $640)<br /><br />So thats approx $6440, - $3800, = you are getting $2660 for your motor. <br /><br />Oh yeah, $3800 Plus Tax??? And you get a new warranty!!!!!!! <br /><br />Doesn't sound too bad.

The 3800 price includes tax! I am dropping off my boat tomorrow . I will have it back on Wednesday Evening. Talk about service! I will post my noticeable results over the 40Hp.
