Timing Merc 500

1977 Merc 50hp. 500 series T.B ignition I have read where timing should be set up at WOT and have also read where timing should be set up when just cranking engine not running it.Might someone tell me the proper way to set timing (sink&link). Also can a automotive multiemeter be used on this motor to read RPM, and again how is this done Thanks.

should be set under "load". back the trailer into<br />the water to do your adjustments. kinda hard to<br />do underway. need the backpressure to get it right.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

backpressure affects settings....<br />u can use a "test prop" also in a tank.
