Hello to all! I could really use some help finding parts and/or part numbers for my 1975 Mercury 1500 outboard.<br />Specifically, I need to figure out what the part numbers are for a spark plug wire kit, the rotor, and the cap. Here's why:<br />On the 4th of July, I took my family out in the boat, and we ran it up the Spokane river to Coeur d'Alene lake, were we planned to watch the city's fireworks. Well, it made the 5 mile (or so) trip up the river just fine, but a few hundred yards into the lake, the motor suddenly died. I tried for 15 minutes to get the thing to start again with no luck. Eventually, we got a tow to one of the local docks, where I proceeded to test as much of the motor as I could with the tools I had on hand. I checked to make sure I was getting fuel, and sure enough, I was, which left the question of fire... I checked the spark plug wires, and discovered that the snap rings were missing on two of them. 
How they could have been firing to begin with is beyond me... Anyway, long story short, I managed to eventually get the motor started, and limped back down the river.<br />I am not taking the boat out again until I can replace at least the spark plug wires. The cap and rotor... well, I haven't really had a chance to check them yet, but when I replace the spark plug wires on my vehicles, I replace the cap and rotor as well, so I figured I should do the same with the boat.<br />If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!<br /><br />Thanks in advance,<br />Steve in Idaho
