Over the last 3 years my sailboat motor began to not rev up all the way on occasion. Last fall, when it would not rev up at all, I took it to the shop where they cleaned the carb, installed a carb kit and new spark plugs. It ran fine in the shop but does the same thing this year when we tried it 2 weeks ago. The shop can find nothing wrong as yet and they have checked fuel, tank, fittings, electrical, etc. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not to sure about a problem like this, but maybe this can help. Special attention may need to be speny on your carborator. A small piece of trash in a fuel jet or under your needle could be restricting fuel to your engine.
Maybe it can be your cable.
Maybe it can be your timing.
Give us some more detail on what its doing, what you have done, and checked.

I just wonder if your fuel system is sometimes taking in air, or possibly water.

Thanx guys. The timing has been checked and air pressure has been applied in search of a fuel leak. I assume that all the dirt has been removed from the carburator and needle and seat since they have been checked several times. Tests of the electrical components found everything o.k. We are awaiting a used CDI unit to install in hopes of correcting the problem since everything else checks out o.k.
