Year of Mercury 50 Blueband??

I have just purchased a used Mercury 50 Blueband and would like to know the year of manufacture for parts etc. The Serial# is 9341203<br />I have tried some 'year of make' searches with this serial number but nothing seems to quite match up. Thanks in advance for any help!<br />Dunk

I'm not sure exactly what year your motor is but I had a blue band 50 merc and it was an 83. It was the most dependable motor I ever owned. Good luck, I'm sure someone will know the year of your motor.<br />CU

It's a little hard to tell since that's a European serial number, and almost all information out there is for the American series of numbers. I did find some information from the Modellguide though, suggesting it's a 80/81 model:<br />HP:Serial:Year:Cyls<br />50 : 9248006 - : 1980/1981 : 2 cyl (80/81 = samma modellår)<br />Unfortunetly, they don't have serial numbers listed for european '82 models to confirm.

They are a bit hard to track when they have European, Canadian or Australian no's<br />However, if you search my posts, you will find I have spent too much time trying to ascertain year of my Aussie Blueband.<br />Rule of thumb is :<br />Euro nos 9<br />Aust 8<br />Canada 7<br />USA 3,4,5,6,O A<br />Last blueband was Dark/light blue band (White text) 1983<br />1981-2 same with silver text<br />1978 Blue/Black flecks (called 500 not 50)<br />1984 Brown band started.<br />This site helps to cross reference some no's<br /><br /> http://www.dougrussell.com/partscatalog/images/MERMAR/74962/43.gif
