Beep...beep...beep= Low oil warning.

Solid beep (all the time) is overheat warning. Depends on which you have as to what to check.

Re: Annoying beep

Just bought this boat a few weeks ago. After a few trips out it would beep once in a while for a few seconds then quit. The last trip out it started to beep,we had been out for several hours drifting with the motor off.The key was in the on position but not running,in fact even after the motor started it kept beeping, a solid beep.I felt the water temp coming from the tell tale and it was not hot.YOUR ADVICE WOULD :confused: BE HELPFUL..

Water temp from the tell tale is NOT a good indicator of engine temp. It just proves that the water pump is working. My bet is you have a bad overheat sensor in the block. Need year model and serial number to help further.

Re: Annoying beep

Perhaps you have a bad oil warning module. Usually when the module goes bad it stops warnings all together, but sometimes it fails just the opposite. Also if your oil level is low, the float in the oil tank could be bouncing just at the low oil mark..

Re: Annoying beep

First we need to find out what the problem is. I would pull of the cowl, and look down low on the starboard side of the powerhead. There should be a little square black box with two blue wires, a black wire, a purple wire, and a brown wire with a tracer (I think white) coming out of it. Simply disconnect the brown wire coming from the box. Make sure you have plenty of oil in the resevior, and run the motor. If you have no more alarm, then the problem is with the oil module, the foat in the oil tank, or the sensor in the oil tank.

If you still get an alarm then it is an over heat problem, or the temp sensor in the head.

All the oil warning module does is set a broken alarm for a low oil situation, instead of the solid alarm, which you get from an overheat.

Scott..

Re: Annoying beep

Hi Izuizme,

If the beep is a continuous sound and occurs any time you turn the ignition switch to the on position even without starting the engine, it is most likely as Skinsk said in his first post " a fault in the oil level sensor". I have seen this problem before and found that the sensor part glued to the float had fallen off and was making contact with the sender pickup in the bottom of the oil tank. In most cases the float / sender assembly is removed, cleaned and the loose sensor reglued and the problem is solved, I have heard that there has occasionally been problems with the glue used in manufacture. The manual indicates this sound is an overheat alarm and it was only by eliminating all other possibilities the float problem was found.

Bob
