95 mariner 40 magnum 0g250516 ser. was getting low volt reading on meter and intermitent tach reading. cleaned post and changed terminals checked batt. condition ok but still no charging and no tach. found rectifier/regulator has black goo seeping out can see melted solder on board. how do i check stator? is this the cause of the melt down? have tried to test from a manual but i am not a scientist. instrucctions hard to follow and for many makes and mods. on vis. check of stator found nothing alarming. what should i get for values.
