Mercury XR10

Hi<br />Can anyone help with some info on a Mercury XR10 Outboard.<br /><br />manufactured in Belgium<br />Serial Number: 09729157<br /><br />I have been told despite the "XR10" name that this engine is rated at 15HP ??<br /><br />It would also be usefull to know the age of this engine before I part with my money.<br /><br />Is there a site where I can type in the serial number and get more info ?<br /><br />I have searched the net for ages trying to get some information without sucsess.<br />Any help would be apriciated<br /><br />Thanks

As far as I know the XR10 is just that 10 hp. It is the equivalent of the Mercury SeaPro 10hp and the Mariner Marithon 10hp. <br /><br />The last 2 mentioned were generally sold to camp operators.<---atleast up here in Canada.<br /><br />Longlife and durable engines.<br /><br />As for the year..I do not have those spec's for it.<br /><br />TMD

The info I have shows that motor was produced from 1990 to 1993 and was indeed called a 10 hp. In reality it may be a touch more.<br /><br />Hope that helps some.

Used to have a merc 110 9.8 HP but this thing would blow by the numerous johnny-rude 9.9 HP outboards that were popular at the time. actually pulled a waterskier (10 year old) with it!!!
