Mercury 150 hp outboard motor - need year of motor

I have a Mercury 1150 outboard 150 hp motor and am trying to figure out the year of the motor. The only numbers on the motor I see are 2114-.... Any suggestions on where I can find the actual serial number or how to find out the year of the motor?

The serial should sit on the bracket.<br /><br />1150 is a 115 hp., but if you supply a pic someone here might be able to tell the year from trim colors etc.<br /><br />A manual is a must if you want to service it, look here

You can also go to the Mercury Marine website(www.mercurymarine.com) and there is a site Mercury express parts and enter your serial and they will come back and tell you what year it is.Mercury serial numbers are 8 digits so if you only have 7 digits put a zero in front and you should be able to get the correct year.

I think I mixed my previous repl to your question with another one I was looking at.They had a serial number and was trying to figure out what year it was,sorry for the mix up,the serial number should be on the transom bracket on the right side of the motor looking at it from the rear and it will be a 7 digit number which you then convert to the year.

If the numbers on the motor bracket are missing they are stamped on a flange near the starter on the Silver block models 1972 and earlier, and where the two pieces of the block bolt together on the later black blocks. Hope that helps JR
