I have a 1970 Mercury 650 with power trim. It has a three button trim switch. To raise the motor you have to push the middle button and the top button together to get it to work. To lower the motor you just have to push the bottom button. I have traced a wire from my pump to one of the trim cylinders that attaches to a bolt. This bolt then touches a plate on the engine bracket. If you raise the motor past a certain amount this bolt no longer touches the plate. Is this a trim limit mechanism? Should I not be able to push the bottom button to lower, the middle button to trim, and the upper button to tilt all the way up? Is it not wired right or am I just crazy?

Thanks for The Help

Monark

One button for Trim.
Two buttons for Trailer.

Your T+T is working properly.

TMD

Pushing the middle button to trim it isn't working. It will trailer by pushing both buttons, but it won't raise at all by just pushing one button. Does it have something to do with that wire and the metal plate on the trim cylinder. Is it possible to find a wire diagram for this kind of Power trim setup.

Thanks For The Help

Monark

Top button should be for Trim. Top and middle should be for trailer (at the same time)

TMD
