I recently completed rebuilding my powerhead which included boring all cylinders and installing new pistons, rings, wrist pin bearings, and crankshaft bearings.
The engine runs great except my oil pump failed during my first inwater test run.
I later removed the oil pump and found out the oil pump drive gear on the crankshaft failed. The only way to fix the problem is to tear down the engine again and replace the drive gear on the crankshaft.
I decided not to do this again and would like to bypass the oil injection system and mix the oil/fuel. How do you disable the oil pump rotation sensor on the pump shaft without disabling the alarm module? I need to trick the module to to think the oil pump drive shaft is rotating. I would prefer to keep the module since it is also used to activate the overheat warning sound.

A I'm pretty sure the alarm mod has nothing to due with the temp sensor . If you trace the wires from the temp sens. the will go to a block that hooks into the engine harrness. There is also a tan wire that goes to the alarm module from that same block.Since you will be mixing your fuel now the module (that senses oil level and oil pump drive ) tan wire can be removed from that block without a probblem. You can also remove the green wire that comes from the module to the outer switch box.

thank you

The temp switch wire does run to the warning module. I still beleive the module is necessary to allow the overheat warning horn to function properly. I think the green wire rom the outer switch box to the module provides voltage to the warning module.
The rotation sensor senses a magnet rotating on the pump drive shaft, could this magnet be providing continuity in the sensor?

hello
remove the alarm module. shift the tan wire to the connector block at the stbd side above the starter soliniod. and go play. sounds like the first overhaul was questionable at best. should have replaced that gear then. the gear is a micky mouse deal but seems to last a long time in most motors.
good luck and keep posting.

hello rodbolt,

Thank you for your help. I will look into your suggestion. The failed drive gear was my fault, I had trouble installing the drive shaft during assembly, othewise the gear was in great condition.
