blown gasket

I have a 99merc 40 hp 4stroke and the gasket on the side of the block where the water hose comes out is leaking and spraying water inside the cowl.I'm wondering what this gasket is called and if I can fix it myself as it says on the panel,torque to 9lbs.Any info would be appreciated.

welcome aboard! a blown gasket on such a younin<br />is hard to swallow, but with a manual in hand<br />it shouldn't be too hard to install a new one.<br />lots of folks here to walk you through it if u<br />run into trouble.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
