I own a 1999 Merc 225 EFI, I am looking for an aftermarket electric fuel pump. The OEM part number for the kit is 809088T, I seem to be having alot of trouble finding an aftermarket pump and the OEM price is just out of this world. Being an ASE Mastertec it really is starting to make me sick to have to pay the price for an OEM fuel pump. If someone has run into this problem before your help would be greatly apriciated.

Think you might have hit the wrong selection, you will get better info in the Merc site, I'm sure one of the moderators will move it for you. Good Luck.

Re: 1999 Mercury 225 EFI Fuel Pump

There is two electric fuel pumps on that engine. There is a low pressure fuel pump on the out side of the VST. The high pressure is on the inside of the VST. First you need to know which fuel pump you need. The low pressure fuel pump is made by carter. The low pressure fuel pump can be bought aftermarket. If the engine has sat a long time 6 months or more you will need to replace both fuel pumps and clean the vst.

I looked at an old high pressure electric fuel pump. The name on it is Wilburo. I have not found a source for this pump (aftermarket). I know carter makes the low pressure electric fuel pump. There is two of the low pressure pumps 1. is 25 gal/hr. 2. is 45gal./hr. Both are low pressure.

Re: 1999 Mercury 225 EFI Fuel Pump

i HAVE A 1998 250 EFI OFFSHORE, MINE WILL RUN FOR 15 TO 30 MINUTES LOW RPM'S ...THEN WHEN I GET CRUISING AT 3000 TO 3500 FOR 5 MINUTES IT JUST SHUS DOWN....i HAVE REPLACED ALL THE FUEL LINES FROM BOTH TANKS TO THE ENGINE AND IN THE ENGINE. REBUILT THE LOWER PRESSURE PUMP, REPLACED THERMOSTATS,REPLACED THE CHECK VALE TO THE BLOCK FOR THE OIL TANK TO PRESSURIZE. REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, WHICH i WAS INFORMED THIS ENGINE IS NOT TO BE RUN ON ngk PLUGS. nEW FULFILTERS, TO INCLUDE A NEW RAYCOR WATER SEPARATOR. nEW LEVEL VALVE SHUTS OFFS FROM THE TANKS TO THE WATER SEPARATOR. i INSTALLED A 12 GALLON SECONARY QUICK CONNECT TANK WITH FRESH GAS TO TEST. bLEW AIR THRU ALL FUEL LINES ETC. NO OBSTRUCTIONS. THE PICKUPS ON BOTH MY TANKS ARE WELDED IN, SO i CAN'T REMOVE THEM...HOPEFULLY THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN STUPID ENOUGH TO PUT FILTERS ON THE END. EVEN AFTER ALL THIS, IT STILL DOES THE SAME THING FROM ALL 3 GAS TANKS.......1/2 HOUR SLOW RUNNING, GET UP TO 3000 RPM AND IT SHUTS DOWN....I LOOSENED THE SCREWON THE VST PUMP, AND THERE WAS FUEL IN IT. HELP HELP HELP...
