I have a 40HP Mariner w/ Quicksilver Control Box that crapped out on me. I have a new (used) box and the electrical is all hooked back up and works. What I need to know is does the throttle cable go on top, or shifter cable on top? Also is the correct (neutral) position where the detent bearing fits into the larger opening or one of the smaller positions? Is there a diagram anywhere I could look at? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bob

Geez M. Y. ..

You have a good memory...
This control box is the original Merc control with the black choke button on top. I got it from an iboats member ages ago and I am embarrassed to say.. I forgot who

I actually have much clearer .pdf copies which I have sent to a few people who needed them.

Re: Quicksilver Control Box Question (Cable Connection)

Hi bob
You should be in business now.
Yea, I don't remember either. I send this type info to so many. Accessories are one area that some after market manuals could improve on. Most do cover the most common remote controls though, especialy manuals for the larger size motors. Often the factory manual will not cover the remote in the service manual, you have to order an accessory manual or rigging manual. This will depend on the year, manufacturer, etc. The funny thing is, all the manufactures seem to change how they put out there info from time to time. It can be confusing. Good luck Guys.

Re: Quicksilver Control Box Question (Cable Connection)

The QuickSilver 4000 model controller requires special throttle/shift cables. I think they are only available from Merc & from TeleFlex special Merc Gen II cables.
The cable end connectors are different from everything else, no adapters available yet.

My Manual did not have any wiring diagrams other than showing the connectors, not the guages or other end connections.

I have misplaced the manual for connections of the throttle/shift cables & I need it to complete my installation. MercDealer, as usual, is no help without the $$.$$/hr fee. One hour minimum.

If someone has the 4000 series manual please post a picture of the throttle/shift connections, I think the connectors are stacked in the same hole bracket.

Red

Re: Quicksilver Control Box Question (Cable Connection)

you really should disconnect the cables from the motor end first so you can adjust them properly. the first arm that moves when you put the control box into fwd is the shift. when you lift the fast idle lever the arm that moves is the throttle
