Fair enough, but I've seen aftermarket regulators on outboards. Don't know if they're still available, but they sold them out of snowmobile/minibike catalogs. They weren't factory, but they worked.<br /><br />But back to the dead tach...if it's charging high, it's charging. The tach signal is there. I'd suspect a bad connection or gauge. Unless it had one of these aftermarket regulators. Then it could charge high and still have no tach signal. (They have a separate blue tach lead.)
