I suppose you could, but why would you want to? That engine (when set-up properly) runs really well at idle. Does the engine have a running problem? Let us know!

No you can't. If you put two more #1 carbs on #3 & #4, it will idle way too high and very rough, and there'd be nothing you could do about it with parts that exist.

Re: MERCURY 125HP

Since the 90hp three idles on all 3 (right?), I don't see why whatever they did for the three couldn't be copied over to the four?

That said, I don't see why either ........

-W

Re: MERCURY 125HP

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that #1 & #2 carbs had idle jets and #3 & #4 didn't. Why wouldn't installing another #1 & #2 carb in the #3 & #4 place work? With idle jets, it should be no problem to adjust the idle down where it should be. I saw a 115 that someone did that to and it runs just fine.

Craig

Re: MERCURY 125HP

I've got word from a mercury tech, who go the word straight from Fon Dulac, that the 125 picks up serious vibrations (harmonics?) idling on all four. It's very advised not to try it.

I have another word from another source that there's a kit available though, to let it idle on three.

In a way this makes sence, the best "natural" configuration for a two stroke is three.

That's why the V6 is two banks of three, and the inline 6 has the exhaust divided into two banks of three.

-W

150 is the about the limit. After that you can't use an I6. Being separated from your I6 is hell. :D
