Guys I have a 40hp, twin cylinder, 2 stroke Mariner, with a split gearbox and a good engine, and have just aquired an almost new leg/gearbox with a ceased engine, now how easy is it to swap the engines over??

Could some one please e-mail me the details on Codbashers@aol.com Your help in this matter is very much appreciated, and if the supplier of the info comes from Jacksonville in Florida, I will buy you a drink when I visit the States next year (Fernandina to be excact) :D

I personally have never changed that particular power head but it shouldn't be all that hard. I would suggest ya get a shop manual before starting the project though. An oem manual would be best but a generic manual would be better then nothing.

c/6
Hooty

p.s. Do you really go about bashing cods?

Re: Removing Engine block from the leg

:D Cheers Hooty, I have been told its a fairly straight forward job, just really wanted a few pointers as those books are hard to come buy in the UK and bloody expensive, dont really wany to shell out best part of $60 just for a simple job.

The fishing in the UK is grim, this winter very few Cod have been caught, esp from the beaches. But we have noticed changes taking place, i.e. Dogfish being caught in new locations, and Thornback Rays (Caught normally in the spring) are being caught all winter, esp as our seas are 4 degrees above average, a lot to a migratory species of fish. In answer to your question, no I dont bash Cod any more, cos you cant catch the buggers!!
