Trying to remove "73" powerhead! Problem is front is loose, but won't come out, back is free, lower unit is off. I have hoist and prybars! Am I missing any hidden bolts? According to seloc manual, only 8 nuts to remove. I welcome any ideas!

I think there are 8 bolts that hold the powerhead down. There are 2 in the very front near the swivel that aren't under the collar. It could be that there are deposits on the bolts holding it down too. If it will come up even 1/4 inch all the way around, you prolly have all the nuts off.

-W

Re: stuck pwr.head

I don't know this particular engine but if there are studs left in the engine holder they can hang up with corrosion and be difficult to remove. I had a problem with a Suzuki on which I had broken some heads off the bolts and the shafts of the bolts were frozen into the engine holder. It took a lot of persistence and hammering on the end of the shaft of the broken bolt with a drift to slowly (ever so slowly) move the shafts through the corrosion.

If the studs are corroded in there try spraying lime away or CLR on the studs to help free them.
