I got a Mercury 115 h.p. This weekend i took it out to the coast and it ran just fine.I always keep an eye on the "pee-hole" to make sure the pump is working . I got it home yesterday and i noticed when i was flushing the motor with the muffs on it wouldn't pee at idle. The only way i could get a steady stream was to advance the throttle. It always "pissed at idle, could the pump have gone bad?The pump only has around 15 hours on it.Any advice before i drop the lower unit would really help.THANK YOU.

The cooling water line at the top of your engine... Open it up and have a buddy hold the line... Put the muffs on and fire up the engine.
If a blockage is in the high pressure side of the cooling system you will see poor pressure/flow out of the hose. If you have good pressure flow, you should look at the poppet valve (could have weeds or other junk in there).

Where is the poppet valve located at?I went ahead and dropped the lower unit. The pump looks fine i cant see any signs of melting, and the impellar looked good as well.Where else should i check for a possible blockage.Should i replace the impellar?Should i put it all back together and recheck for water pressure?Any help would really be appreciated.THANK YOU.

Note. The post title says 1150. All the 4 cylinder 115's were called 115's.

The designation 1150 refers to the old inline 6, this means no thermostat - no poppet.

If it's really an 1150, then it's either the pump or a blockage in the pee tube.

-W
