Re: 7.5 merc ?
dont know about a 9.5 but from what ive heard the difference btween a 7.5 and a 9.8 is the carb and the exhaust porting. i have a 1981 7.5 merc. and wanted also to get that extra power, found out the only cost effective way to do it was to get a 9.8 powerhead and carb similiar in age as mine, off of ebay or somewhere,and and switch with my 7.5 powerhead seemed like a lot of trouble for 2.3 hp.so i didnt do it but it can be done.
my guess its a 70's merc. <br />thanks for any help
