Switching to a stainless prop I discovered that my new prop won't clear my trim tab. Any ideas, do they make shorter trim tabs or do I need a smaller prop. Both props are 14 1/2 X 21 but the stainless seems bigger !! Your thoughts ???

Yes - the problem is known.

Quicksilver (and even other aftermarket suppliers) has a different trim tab, that is designed to leave more room for the prop (part 46399A1).

There's even a tab (part 76214) which is actually just a plate, but that leaves no trimming ability so if you need the trim, it's not preferable.

The tab is a sacrificial anode and must be there in one form or another.

Pls. check if these part #'s actually fit your motor before ordering.

I would think there would be any difference execpt the SS will weigh about twicw as much. I just switch mine, both were 14 1/2 X 17 and they were identical in size.
Maybe your old prop has been reworked one time too many and lost some metal and then maybe someone put on a larger trim tab???
You should be able to find a shorter trim tab.
