Hi I'm just abouht to become the owener of a 85hp 1975 merc outboard<br />What I want to know is anything I should know abouht this engine thanks.<br />Ive never owned a merc before.

how would you hook up a tach to this engine.<br />whitch tach would you recomend.

The tach sensing wire connects to either of the terminals on the rectifier which have yellow wires connected, from the stator under the flywheel.<br /><br />Any aftermarket tach with 12-pole alternator setting will work. Lots of tachs for sale at eBay.
