First post, hope to find some opinions and/or help on this one... Oil alarm started again last night... prior to this event: replaced hoses, o-rings, shaft, rotation sensor, resevior cap, etc. Worked for about 4 hours running time, but returned (the alarm)... I can see oil getting to the T-junction. Frustrating now... Thinking it might either be the gear assembly on the crank (its plastic right?) or ??? Considering disabling the system and premixing... What do you think? Any help is appreciated. Mark

It's easy to pull the pump off and look at the driven gear, looking for shards of plastic. I would start by putting in the gas tank until you're absolutely sure what's going on. The pump comes off with just two screws [depressurize the oil system first].

If the oil injection is trashed, you have three choices 1] premix, 2] fix the gear [very expensive, since the PH needs to be torn down to get at it - probably upwards of $1500] and, 3] install a Marine Solutions electronic oil injection system {< $600}. The third choice retains all of the oil alarms and avoids the premixing mess.

I chose #3 for my '95 150 HP Merc, since I wanted to retain the alarms and my boat has T 150's [wanted the alarms to be the same for both motors]. I did the work myself and paid $325 for the oiling package. It took about 2 hours to install and has worked perfectly for 50+ hours.

Good luck.

Re: 94 Merc 150 V6 Oil Injection Problems...

Thanks for the info Jim... With only a single 150, I think I'm going with the premix... options 2 and 3 are little toooo dear for me. I've ordered the pump block kit ($12 bucks) and I'm going to pull the pump shaft, pump and block off the lines. Anyone know which color wire to disable (getting mixed signals on this one?) I want to maintain the overheat alarm. Thanks in Advance.

Maybe kind of a dumb question...but are you filling the reservoir all the way to the top so that some oil spills over when you screw the cap on? Not supposed to be any air in the engine mounted tank. I was having a similar problem and this solved it for me.

Blue, thanks for the reply and yes... I actually have been keeping both tanks topped off.... I'm 99% sure the drive gear on the shaft is gone... (had some plastic inside the drive shaft housing) Still looking for the correct wires to disable.. Anyone?

If you want to remove the oil injection system, then remove the warning module and all its associated wiring. That will leave the overheat warning as the only wire to go to the control box.

Chris...........
