Is $300 too much just for the starter for my 82 115 merc outboard...That sure sounds high.
Also can my starter that sorta works be rebuilt.

He doesn't have to get lucky.

There's a used starter on Ebay right now that comes with a guarantee and a free solenoid.

Search on:

Mercury Outboard (inline 6) starter

or item # 2490661147

-W :D

I'm not sure... but I think the one in question has a "buy it now" option that ends the auction at the moment it's clicked. :D

-W

Your starter can be rebuilt by any auto starter rebuild shop, GG.

Typical price is $60-$75.

That photo is unaltered and virgin, ob! Shame on you!!

Say, GGoody, how have you determined that your starter needs to be replaced or rebuilt?

I have seen many good starters replaced because something else in the high current circuit was at fault, not the starter motor.

Please tell us your symptoms and what troubleshooting you did. You may not have to spend a dime to get it working first rate again.
