Hello,

I just purchased what I thought to be a 15 P prop off ebay that was supposed to fit an Inline 6. The prop is Michigan # 031041. It has 15 splines but the blades are too big and swept back and as a result cannot clear the trim tab. Can anyone tell me from the numbers what application or engine that this prop is designed for? I greatly appreciate any and all info. Thank you.

Re: prop ID question - Michigan

I believe that is equivalent to a OEM Mercury Black Max Prop per p/n 48-77342A40, which is 13 3/4 X 15 RH Alum 3 BL

Sound to me like you may have purchased a prop that is larger in diameter than your original? The diameter, pitch, and number of splines are all important factors when selecting a propellor.

I believe that prop is targeted toward the 75hp through 150HP models, but will fit many others.

http://www.boat-props.com/finder.cg...ichigan_match&part_num=48-77342A40&x=117&y=17
