beeps when cold

I have a 2001 merc 225,only on cold start and usually at idle the warning beep sounds.when this happens the engine stumbles and sometimes dies.always starts right back up.only once under power this happened,engine hesitated and warner beeped then was fine.there must be another merc owner experiencing this problem.thanks for replies in advance

sounds like a w/pump impeller with a set in it or a bad blade on it that don't pump anough water at idle to cool your engine--bob

that is the sound of momentary loss of 12v. check all the cables,engine fuses and terminations carefully. when the 12v was restored the horn self tested.<br /> stupid horns cant tell between a keyswitch cycle or a momentary loss.<br /> good luck and keep posting

the pump is new but I believe its loosing voltage.rodbolt,do you think its loosing 12v from battery to ign switch or after.this is on a 2180 bayranger.the reason I asks is when you kill the engine with kill switch and flip the switch back on,it doesnt beep.

hello<br /> the "kill" switch does not interfere with the 12vdc on the 12vdc ign key on circuits.<br /> this is a problem I have fought many times. once the complaint was on a left turn the buzzer went off. found a broken cable inside the insulation at the motor cable entry port.<br /> good luck and keep posting

think Ill run it in the driveway and tug and pull on wires.maybe find it that way.hey rodbolt, im a tech at a chevy dealer and know electrical.could you give me some obvious places to look,in detail.iithanks very much for any help!!

ran it on the driveway today,checked for voltage and ground loss with dvm.nothing found but the problem occurs very regular.when this happens the oil and temp light flash,beep sounds and the engine stumbles or dies.but it seems the rpm,s start dropping like the engine is loading up before this happens.another question,is the tp voltage high at idle and low at full throttle ?this opposite from car engines.

hello<br /> when they flash is there a pattern? last on I did would beep flash the temp then the oil. found #1 plug wire arcing to the stbd side temp lead wires. replaced the high tension lead and rerouted the wires.<br /> good luck and keep posting<br />PS without going back and digging out the manuals I cant remember the TPS voltages on that motor but if they are way out the ECU will do the beep flash thing.

would you believe new spark plugs fixed,I thought no way but has been fine with no beeps or stalls.still have doughts but will see .
