Classic 50/45 hp Electrical Problems

I have a 1986 Mercury Classic 50, it is 45 hp, 4 cylinder, electric start. The botton 2 spark plugs were not firing. I replaced the trigger switch, that didn't help. I replaced the stator and it made it worse, now it tries to turn over but doesn't. Can anyone give me any ideas to what is wrong now? Did I not do something wrong when I replaced the stator?

hello<br /> careful trouble shooting is always cheaper than parts changing. buy a manual and the correct DVA meter or cd-77 meter and test the outputs and inputs of each component. good luck and keep posting

I bought a manual before I change the trigger switch. Then bought a meter before I changed the Stator. The new stator still doesn't match what the book said the meter should read. I've contacted the place I ordered the stator from to see if they will send another one, hopefull the one they send will work correctly?

it could be a stator but I rather doubt it. that is why I only deal with oem from dealers that are as least as knowledgable as I am. if you have the correct meter do a running output test of the trigger,stator and switchbox.<br /> god luck and keep posting

I was wondering if you ever found the problem with the bottom two plugs not firing....I have the same problem,and do not know what to do about it..can anybody help me...Thanks
