I'd think you'd have to pull it off.<br /><br />Then you could put it in a pan of water and heat it up. Check with a mulit-meter for when it opens/closes.<br /><br />If it actuates above 212, put a little anti-freeze in the water to raise the boiling point, and watch it with a thermometer. A oven thermometer should work in a pinch, it goes up plenty high. If you dry it out when you're done that shouldn't kill it.<br /><br /><br />**<br />I try to wait until the wife is gone for doing such things in the kitchen,,,, especially running engine parts in the dishwasher. (just a little helpful advice from Uncle Ed.) *chuckle*
<br /> on a V merc its just to easy to remove the t-stats for testing. I rarely test them unless I think its stuck shut and rarely ever reuse them. they are just to cheap. toss them out every year or so and replace them.<br />if I suspect it was stuck shut I will heat them in a pan of water with a candy thermometer to see if I am correct but I dont reuse them.
