Play in Transom mount

I just purchased a 1978 mercury 65hp and there seems to be alot of play in the joint between the motor and the transom clamp (the one that allows the motor to turn) I was wondering if it can just be tightened like a wheel bearing and race or if it is a bushing that is broken or worn out. Any info would be great<br /><br />Thanks

They're bushings. Try pumping it full of grease and see if that helps. But I'm wondering if it might be a broken motor mount.

Thanks for the reply, it looks like the previous owner already tryed packing it full of grease and most of it just squeezed out the bottom.
