I can you this much here.....

The Mercury current part number for that pump assembly is 826729A4 which is superceded from 99186. It's sold only as a pump assembly, $1049 from you friendly local Merc dealer (FLMD). (there are carbon brush and spring kits available though)

If yours is not rusted through and still working it might be time to pull it, wire brush it, and slather on some protective paint.

-W

I was very curious because there are a couple of vendors on E-bay that sell just the replacement three wire pump motor for about $100. I just do not know if they are the right motor, although they claim that it will replace the 99186 and 99816T merc part numbers. I do not want to spend a c-note on the wrong part.

Is there anyone else out there with any ideas or advice? I would prefer to go the route of a repacement motor, because I fear going through the motor casing trying to get the rust off. Since the motor itself runs strong, is there any chance of just getting the pump motor casing? Thanks in advance.....
Tony
