I would think it would be fuel related before electronics . I have never seen a motor with a bad stator crank. fuel pump filters plugs etc start with the simple stuff first.

Better check fuel system first as stated earlier.

what year 200?
the system changed slightly over the years.
have you made sure the vapor seperator is actually getting fuel? any other running symptoms? drain a sample from the vapor seperator and check for water.

hello again
have you done the basics of two stroke tests? compression and spark. verify them first before doing anything else. actually its a basics forALL internal combustion articulated rod desighn engines. its a must.
suck,squeeze bang and blow.
its worked that way since the 1800's and most likly will past the end of the 2000"s.

I had the same problem with my older 1988 200hp and it was the stator.

Wow, thanks for all the responses! I haven't done the compression test, but we've changed the plugs, poured out the filter, I think I'm going to buy a new one today and try it. Apparently the stator has a high end and low end...is that true...

Yep, it's true - it was the high end on mine that died.
