pull string return coil

when the string snapped i replaced it but on doing this the coil spring popped out so i recoiled it now it recoils off the engine but not when fixed to the engine can anyone help? it is <br />amercury 2.5 hp regards john

are you makeing sure thr dogs are properly postioned by slowly releasing the starter rope as you install the starter on the engine

i checked everything over again and lubricated all parts turned something the other way round now its great sparks but dosent want to start could it be im flooding the carb ?
