Replaced impeller but have extra part ,please HELP !

I replaced the impeller 1994 40 4 cylinder, gaskets too but I have an extra seal or washer thats split { broken }. I dont know where it's from because it seemed to just fall out when I dropped lower unit..<br />Looks like a black washer for a garden hose only thicker.<br />The only thing I can think of from the drawing in my Seloc manual is it's a " centrifugal slinger " that goes on the driveshaft & snugs against the waterpump housing , I have a thicker black rubber ( I belive it's the rubber seal } there but does anyone know if theres supposed to be 2 washer type things on driveshaft pressed flush to the WP body ? ?<br />The shiftshaft oil seal is intact & I didnt remove the water pump base so it shouldnt be oil seal under WP base, @ least I dont think so??<br />Sorry for the long post, I would appreciate any help, please..thanks. ...Alan

It sounds like the old slinger and if you didn't have one on the shaft when the unit came down it is certainly the old slinger

Thanks for the reply laddiesservice, there was 1 washer type thing on the drive shaft that is close to 1/3 of an inch thick, would that most likely be the rubber seal & that sits on top of the centrifugal slinger ?<br />In other words there is indeed both the slinger & rubber seal on the driveshaft pressed snug against the waterpump of these motors ?<br />thanks..<br />I just want to get the right part this time the guy @ Mercury thought it was the oil seal from the shiftshaft bushing kit which I have to return..

Little update incase anyone with this motor is following this, I ordered the new part today that goes on driveshaft it's a new rubber slinger ring ding deal, a service bullitin update..<br />There was problems with the old style hence the update..<br />Hope to be flounder fishing by wed if all goes well
