i was told that it was the switch box or the trigger how can i test these? Thanks in advance

1-- disconnect the blk/yel wire at the switch box and ck for fire.<br />2--you need a DVA a OHM. meter will work but nots good, H/speed wires should read,Red to ground 20v+ or 135to165 ohms, the L/speed should read,Blue180v+ or 5800to7000 ohms.<br />3--Trigger wires 4v+ or 750to1400 ohms

Check for bad wires, I have a 20 hp 1976 and the kill switch wire was shorting due to rotten insulation, so no spark. Easy to check and cheap to fix! I recommend this before more complex steps.

Senecalaker, your engine is a 1971 650. The anwser to the question on testing the CD ign, is no, his is alt driven and yours is battery, but as long as your battery is up the stator has nothing to do with spark to the ign. system. You asked how to test your system a couple of days ago and I thought I explained it to you. I am not much of a typer so these anwsers take me a while to do.
