I have a 1983 mercury 115 h.p. it will idle great but as sood as you try to take off it starts missing on the bottom to cylinders. It has 125# of compresion on all cyl. it is not the power pack or the coils. when it is idling you can choke the top carb by hand and it will kill the motor real quick, the second carb takes just a little longer, but the bottom carb won't kill it at all. after you choke the bottom one gas will pour out of the carb just like the others. i removed the plugs on the bottom 2 cyl. the #5 was wet but the #6 did not have hardly any at all on it. you can rev it up in neutral and it runs fine. but with a load against it, it just spits and sputters. I really need help. any suggestions. thank you

Sounds like a pluged high speed jet in the bottom carb. Have they been cleaned lately---Bob

the compression tested 125# on 1-5 but 105# on 6 i am also being told that it could be a stuck ring

Bottom crankshaft seals, as per Clams Canino (it was also my first thought as I read the post).

The reason the plug is so clean is because the bottom cylinder is sucking water and that's what's keeping the plug clean. :D

Powerhead off, replace seals. While you're at it, change the exhaust cover gaskets too.

Chris.......

Mercury Power Tune used as directed can unstick a ring. But I still think it's bottom seals.

You CAN remove that lower endcap without ripping the whole powerhead down. Have the dealer do it with th especial puller. Loosen the two bottom bolts that hold the block together, that helps too.

-W

you said that it would be getting water in the cylinders right. thats why the plug is so clean. If you put a dirty plug in and run it for 5-10 minutes it will be clean and it was not

is the rectifier what the stator hooks into along with the red wire that feeds the powerpacks.
