Sounds like a switch box, if you can't find the tests for it on search, I will repost--Bob

Tim,

Do a search for Clams Canino using the search function where I think he lists his email. You can also find him on Ebay. He's just down the road from you in Fair Play,SC and is the local Merc guru. He helped me get my '75 1500 back in the game with a vengeance and will get you going with advice or an exhaustive inventory of used parts if you need them. Good luck!

You can bet it's either the switchbox or trigger if you have +12 on the red and white switchbox posts with the key on.

Yeah - I can help. :D

Hartwell is just warming up enough to ski on.

ALMOST :)

-Wayne

Another 150 V6'er in the upstate!
I'm from Greenwood SC.

Haven't been out in mine yet this year, but I did un-winterize it this past weekend. Started on the first turn of the key! Not bad for a 1984 model. I hear that the bass have turned on in Lake Greenwood, so I can't wait until we get a dry and wind-free weekend.

Also had to replace my trolling motor as I busted the old one off the bow on a dock in high winds last year. Anyone that needs a Evinrude Scout with broken mount, let me know.

DoctorCAD,

I go to Lake Greenwood a lot. I noticed last year when the water level was down 5-6 ft. or so that there are some potentially dangerous obstructions. I remember that between the state park area and the dam (right in the middle of the lake) there was a large object that looked almost like a fixed telephone pole or larger sticking up out of the water about 2 feet. It literally had the diameter of a bridge pillar or something similar. I also almost destroyed my lower unit on some rocks. I was out there a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the water level is higher, so I felt a lot better. Greenwood is a fun lake. There is also a small section called "hidden lake" near the railroad trestle between the State Park and the large 221 bridge. You have to go through a very narrow channel off to the side near the Cane Creek marina and then come into a hidden part of the lake that is very calm and presumably great for fishing. You can also fish behind the dam and tie off on a cable spanning the lake about 30 yards from the water intakes. Pretty cool and worth seeing.

Be carefull when the water is low some sand bars.
It is o.k.right now. If you know where the ski jump is it is the bridge above it. Tim

On the 3 termanal side of the switch box install a jumper between the brn. and white termanals, take a jumper wire and arc the black to ground with the key on if you have fire the switch box is good and the trigger is bad, if youdon't the box is bad--Bob

Hey 2Cycle,

The federal government, in its infinite wisdom, requires Lake Greenwood to be drawn down 5-6 feet every fall and winter. There is a hard push by residents to get that changed to only the winter.

I have not had much luck fishing in this lake, I moved here last year from PA where there are lots of grasses and lily pads to fish in. On Lake Greenwood, there isn't any vegitation and I am having a difficult time adapting my bassin' technique.

Let me know if you ever want to hook up and fish.

Re: 1975 mercury 150 H.P. no fire?

DoctorCAD,

Sorry to hear the fishing is slower than expected. I know they're in there, as I've seen them pulled out. I've caught lots of catfish and bream there, but the bass have always been somewhat elusive for me too. I hear the crappie are to be had also. So, I take it you moved down from Pittsburgh? That provoked my interest as I'm a long suffering Steeler's fan and still upset about 4th and 2 call on the goal line in the AFCC game.

Email me at Finlay538@aol.com and let me know when you're going out again. I'd love to come down to fish and compare the V6 to the inline 6. :D

Be watchfull for a loose connection or ignition switch issue. Intermittant problems are just that - intermittant.

-W
