Had my boat out Friday trying out the motor to see if my dealer's mechanic fixed a problem I had. I was going along about 3500-4000 rpm's when suddenly the engine lost power and died out. I tried to restart but was hard to start. When it did start, it ran poorly at idle and died out repeatedly. Also the alarm was sounding. It was a fast intermittent beep, like when you try to start the motor with the kill switch on. Sometimes it would stay on when I tried cranking the motor and when it didn't the motor would start. I took it in to the mechanic and said he replaced the voltage regulators because they were charging at too high a voltage. I already replaced the battery, fuel line from tank to pump, primer bulb, and rebuilt the fuel pump on my own. There was also a full tank of oil in the engine and remote reservoirs. Any of you Merc guru's have an idea of what's going on here?

Thanks in advance.

I HAVE A 2001 200EFI AND HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM BUT IT WAS THE WIRE HARNESS CONNECTIONS CAME LOOSE. I ALSO HAD PROBLEM STARTING MY MOTOR IN THE FALL AFTER FISHING AWHILE. IT WOULD NOT START WITH THE THROTTLE IN THE NORMAL STARTING POSITION, HAD TO ADVANCE THE THROTTLE TO START.

MISTYLADY
