'hot' wire merc 68 1000

guys which wire is ignition 'hot' in the control box for a 68 merc 1000?<br /><br />cheers

Into the box red and to the choke and ignition white

thanks laddies, so if I wanted to hook gauges up so that they will start when the key is turned 'on', i would wire them into the white wire? is that right?<br /><br />cheers

Yes the white turns on and off with the switch, we use to use a spad connectter and plug in the tach plug on the front of the box--Bob

thankyou for your help. That's connector has three slits in it. Which one do I use, and if i connect to here and dasey chain the gauges of the tach, they should all work when the switch in 'on'.<br />Is that right?<br /><br />Cheers

I would also be interested in laddies thoughts on whether or not the extra draw of the gauge lights would effect the choke soleniod.<br /><br />Aldo
