I was just looking around ebay and came upon a CMC Power tilt and trim system.... for $350 on ebay that isnt that bad but here is my question:

Will this be a good solution due to the fact that i need a new power trim cylinder, pump and also the spot on the motor where the cylinder lifts the motor is cracked.

Will it add any weight of stress to the transom? This is a 15' boat and 90HP is max HP for the boat and this CMC system looks like it sits the motor back farther, so it would make me think it would add more stress.

Also will it hook up electronically to my controls? I just bout $300 controls new from merc with P/T Buttons

Thanks!

I would think that the only concern would be when traveling becuase of the bounce with the trailer when in the water I think youll be fine. Just make sure to get a transom saver for ehn your in travel.

Most switch systems on the tilt trim utilize a simple momentary switch with hot in the middle and the other leads to the other sides so if you go get a new switch and put it in you should have no problem or strip and reconfigure for your new one.

well, i guess thats a good thing considering the boat is never on the trailer (except in the 800 foot drive from my home to the launch for maintainence and winter storage) other than that it sits in the slip all season

I called CMC today also, they said the unit comes with a extra wide transom mount bar, which lets the weight more evenly distribute on the transom better than if i mounted the motor directly on it.

I think my mind is made up... Btw - is there a switch on my motor to lock it into the down position if there are no power trim cyl's on the motor? its a 1980 90HP Inline 6...The PT cyls are not mounted at all, and if i do it this way i need the motor to be secured.
