91 200 HP OB Merc Water Flow Question

Last time out every thing was fine, this time fire engine, no water from pee-hole. Pull boat, hook up ears, and still no water from pee-hole. Drop lower unit to inspect impeller, its in great shape. Put air to water line where impeller pump attaches system, does not build pressure. In over my head, time for a Pro, any ideas what I can expect the tech to find upon inspection??

How long did you run motor? Have you checked the poppet valve?

Did not run the engine long, 1 maybe 2 minuets (never got hot to the touch) total over a half hour time. BTW I get along well with most engines but OB's aren’t my thing, just helping a buddy. Where is the poppet valve located, and what is its intended function? I am really just trying to get a handle on possible causes so I don’t look stupid when I deal with the service guy.
