I want to install a tachometer

Can you please help me out with installing a tachometer on my 1978 7.5H.P. Mercury Outboard? I am hoping to rig it to steering and have it switched to controls so That I don't have to have it as a tiller model...can anyone help me with w fit kit to get it run with controls?
