Re: 1971 7.5 pumps very little water
Are you dealing with the mercury 7.5? If you are pull off the lower-end and when you have it off you can see the waterpump placed in the middle of the driveshaft (driveshaft is attached to the lower unit and comes out with lower-unit, open the two waterpump bolts and just pull the waterpump top off, then comes a little metal plate (watch the direction when taking it off) and then you can see the impeller itself. You can take the old impeller off with using a little screwdriver to push it up (be careful the waterpump is made of plastic) and replace it with new impeller. There are also two o-rings on the top off the waterpump put them in their places after changing the impeller.
