I have a 2001 Bayliner trophy with a 150ph saltwater Mercury. My trim system has three actuators, one in the middle to raise the motor and two on the sides to trim the motor. There is a white plug above the left actuator. Is that the servicing plug? I belive there might be some air in the system because my motor will come out of the water when I put it in reverse. And it won't drive all the way down unless I push it.

Is the manual tilt valve turned all the way in? Thats the valve on the starboard side of the engine.
If the system is full of oil (check with engine in full up position) tilt lock on.
and the manual release valve is fully closed (clockwise) the system will bleed itself with continued cycling
Cheers

The manual tilt valve is in, I tried unscrewing it and it works fine (the motor comes down). And I have already checked the oil level with the motor up (when I unscrew the plug above the left actuator oil comes out) I have ran the motor up and down at least 20 times this week and I still have the same problem. Is there any seals I might have blown?

You have covered the basics, the next steps require disassembly and removal of the unit,(tilt trim assy) unless your profienct at Hydrallics (at least a better mechanic than I am a speller), you may want to take it to a shop, They will have the tools and the guages to test the unit, and the hoist to hold the motor up if it needs to be removed.
Good luck, sorry I cant be of more help.

Turns out I'm a hydraulic mechanic in the air force, I'm already in the works of pulling the whole trim system out and disassembling the main actuator to see if I blew a seal. Thanks for the help.
