HELP Merc tech 2002 efi

I am about to go on a sea trial this week. Recently bought a 2002 proline 23 sport. The motor is a 2002 Merc 225 EFI saltwater. Is this a good motor? Is there a computor in it to check the hrs., max rpms, recent fault codes, ect.? I think I read some wear that the optimax has a computor but the EFI does not. Are there any problems that is knowm with the EFI motors?
Thanks , Dead Eye

I don't know about the 225, but the smaller (40/50/60) efi 4 strokes definetely have an ECU. It can be 'read' to get all the information you listed. it also has 'failsafe' mode etc.

I assume that the larger motors are the same, from 2002 onwards.

I think only the optimax stores stuff from Christmas past. The efi, I think, can only tell you what is happening now.

Sounds like you picked up a pretty sweet boat. That thing is going to fly.Have fun!
