Now guys don't yell at me, this was my stupider days. All this happened a while back

When I didn't have a puller, replacing the stator just required removing the 8 bolts that secure the "outer" flywheel to the center hub.

I then needed to replace the trigger, ahah... you need to remove that center hub of the flywheel to do that. I was told, by an idiot, that the center hub has no magnets and that the only magnets were on the other rim of the flywheel. So I could try hitting the center hub upwards to loosen it...it never worked. Got a merc puller off ebay and the thing popped right off.

Question: Are the magnets in the center hub of the flywheel just as susecptible to damage as the magnets on the outer rim of the flywheel?
(V6 88' merc)
-Thanks
andy

Re: Flywheel center hub

All magnets like that are susceptible to damage-they are fragile and brittle.

Thanks, not what I wanted to hear though.

It's running fine so maybe I didn't do too much damage.
