What year 115hp Mercury

I am looking at buying a boat that has a 115hp merc on it and im trying to work out the year and what to look for on the motor.<br /><br />This is the serial #8061226. Australian also.<br /><br />Here is a picture also.<br />

Lookes to be very early 80's. From the late 70's thru the mid-80's they were all the same anyway.<br /><br />You want to do a compression test for sure on it.<br /><br />-W

thanks for the replys. can anyone narrow it down any further with the serial number? I have pictures of the engine with the cowl off if that helps also

Like Clams said, it's not the year that is of upmost importance...make sure it has good even compression before you move any further in your purchasing process.<br /><br />-andy
