Does anyone know how much head gaskets will cost? Also do I need to buy new head bolts? Is there any other problems thatr might come up when pulling the heads?
Gaskets list for about $25-$30, depending where you buy them. Part # 27-18786.<br />The bolts should be ok as long as they are in good condition.<br />Why are you pulling the heads?
I guess the only reason I'm pulling the heads is from reading different post about the gaskets rusting out and I also have an overheating problems at certain times. The engine overheat alarm goes off when I'm at full speed and trimmed out for a period of time. I guess it could be the temp sensor. I've already replaced the thermostats and poppet valve assembly. The other thing I was concerened about is that I got sand and other things clogged in the water passages. Not positive on that but I did run it in shallow water and got stuck just before I started having the problems. I also read a post saying the heads get scale on the and the only good way to correct the problem is to take them off and soak them. I guess I'm just confused more or less
