Mercury black max 150/ wont start.
I recently purchased a 150 Black Max that came on the boat. I just put in new batteries, and when I turn the key over the gauges go over to the right. The cylinoid buzzes a bit so I tried to bypass it..no go. There seems to be a short somewhere because when I push the motor from side to side the starter winds up but does not engage the flywheel. I looked for the short, and moved the harness around and nothing. I manually engaged the starter to the flywheel and turned the key over and still nothing. The trim wont even work. The motor is mounted an a 1988 Skeeter. I hope someone has some suggestions!

Thanks!

Re: Merc Black Max 150

check all your wiring conections. don't look at them take them apart and clean. battery cables can get a very small nick or abrasion and the moisture gets inside, they deteriorate from the inside out. 10 batteries together won't start a motor with bad cables. welcome to iboats.
